Why This? Why Now?
Parenting is more complex today than ever before. Families are dealing with a myriad of issues and challenges. As parents we can actively
- support each other in the pursuit of creating a safe and healthy environment for our children to live and thrive in and
- make a difference in helping our children learn how to make safe and healthy choices and
- embrace the consequences for our children that their choices generate.
Through the five principles below the Parent Network helps bridge together concerned parents who share a common vision –a united community of strong families and healthy youth.
Parent-to-Parent Support
The mission of the Parent Network is to facilitate open and honest communication among parents, children and our communities using our network opportunities for discussion, brainstorming, education & support for families in both successful and unsuccessful times.
Five to Thrive
By supporting the Parent Network, we believe in the future and safety of our youth and will strive to:
- Establish OPEN COMMUNICATIONS and welcome and encourage calls from other parents.
- Be a present and VISIBLE HOST at our home when youth are present.
- Create a SAFE ENVIRONMENT for youth visiting our home (To include safely monitoring alcohol and prescription drugs, and securing firearms).
- Supervise the use of all TECHNOLOGY, to the best of our ability (internet, cell phones and gaming devices) to ensure safe and age appropriate use.
- Discuss this alliance with our children and be a positive role model by encouraging RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS and safe and healthy behavior.
How This Works
By supporting this initiative, I believe in the future and safety of our youth.
- As a supporter of the Network, I understand that there will be a list of parents on the website who support this initiative.
- By listing my name on the Parent Network web page, I expect and encourage other parents to reach out to me.
- The Parent Network web page will be listed on the LEAD’s web site (www.LEADweb.org) and accessible through other community links.
