Red Ribbon Race: A Grand Success

RED RIBBON RACE: RESULTS ARE IN!

More than 300 families participated in LEAD’s Fourth Annual Red Ribbon Race on Sunday, November 6.

“A record number of families, gorgeous weather, and the unparalleled beauty of Elawa Farm all came together for the most successful Red Ribbon Race in LEAD's history,” said LEAD Board member Hannah Emmanuele. “Many thanks to the talented organizers, dedicated volunteers, and generous donors for serving up such a perfect fall event to celebrate families LEADing happy and healthy lives!”

The Race also was an exciting kick-off to LEAD's 25th anniversary year. "With the continued enthusiasm and community support shown today, LEAD will remain a unique and cherished part of our community for many years to come,” add Vicki Douvlis, LEAD’s Director of Development.

Winners Highlights:

First place male: Chris Charhut completed in 16:23.71.

First Place Female: Jessy Scarpone closed in at 19:46.11.

Our senior make runner was Richard Freeman, age 79 completed at 40:48.35!

Our senior female runner was Patricia Thomas, age 70, 38:11.27.

There were six runners in the 60+ category with the first place medal going to Rich Kosmerl ( 24:19.97) and July Friedes-Craig (30:21.98).

The youngest runners were eight-years old and the winners in their division were John Morris (22:55.60) and Ashley Guest (32:9.36).

Also special recognition to our top winners in the age 20-29 category, married couple, Matthew Wnek 23:5.27 and his wife Sara Wnek., 23:4.94!

All proceeds benefit LEAD—dedicated to promoting healthy family relationships and preventing alcohol, tobacco, drug use, and other risky behavior. LEAD is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year!
