"I've always felt that when people hold their hands out to people who have less then they do, they become the beneficiaries - intellectually, spiritually or materially."
   - Paul Newmann

Most people volunteer because they believe in an organization and its mission, and they want to make difference toward furthering its cause.

However, volunteering also allows people to help themselves while they're busy helping others.

According to Postgraduate Healthcare, by helping others, volunteers take their mind off their own problems. Studies have shown that people who volunteer and participate in community activities live longer and healthier lives than those who isolate themselves and their problems, the publication states.
